Commercial Manager, Iberia (d/f/m)

Job Description

Please note that this role is based in Spain (Home-Office). 

As our Commercial Manager, Iberia you will manage and grow the HOYA Surgical Optics (HSO) business in Spain and Portugal with sound business practice and a solid strategy development, distributor management, supply, operation, and planning process with the aim of achieving HSO’s financial and non-financial objectives.


Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Create detailed market-, channel-, competition- transparency with the goal to derive growth drivers
  • In collaboration with leadership and other stakeholders define and implement sales strategies for Spain and Portugal
  • Bring local expertise and insights of market to leadership team
  • Anticipate market changes and propose pro-active solutions
  • Identify, integrate and support distributor network in all relevant areas
  • Support distributors and end-users (e.g. clinics) in order to optimize their processes, procedures and business development
  • Organize and hold regular distributor meetings to ensure high quality, effective implementation of HSO strategies, within compliance standards
  • Build, maintain and optimize relationships with Key Opinion Leaders 
  • Cultivate long-term relationship with Strategic Accounts, Key Accounts, KOLs, alliances
  • Develop market and product specific marketing strategies and own the promotional budget for effective use
  • Responsible and accountable for budget implementation (sales & expenses)
  • Manage strategy and adapt our business to Spain & Portugal markets successfully
  • Work collaborative cross functionally in a matrix organization
  • Accountability to train and certify distributors and customers



  • Degree in business administration, marketing, life science, or relevant qualifications



  • 10+ years’ experience in sales, marketing and/or clinical roles in ophthalmology, medical device or pharmaceutical industry. (Sales experience in ophthalmology/cataract industry and understanding of the local ophthalmology market is a plus)
  • Experience with local regulations, reimbursement policy 



  • Proven success in sales and marketing

  • Fluent English and Spanish; Portuguese is a plus

  • Approximate 60%
