Director Ops PMO
The Director / Senior Manager Ops PMO will lead strategic projects for HOYA Surgical Optics (HSO) Global Operations, Supply Chain (end-2-end scope), develop and manage the project portfolio of Global Operations through sound project management, change management and Lean methods.
This role will champion the advancement and use of Lean, Six Sigma and Change Management through engagement with all parties in end-2-end Supply Chain Management, build fundamental relationships with operational and finance leaders to ensure/develop a best in-class Global Operations and IT infrastructure that supports HSO growth. This role holds people and budgetary management responsibilities.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Project Management & Process Management
- Possess expert knowledge of common methods to define problems, identify gaps in performance, gather supporting data, design solutions, implement improvements, measure results, and sustain results
- Serve as a change agent to challenge existing processes in place
- Use data to communicate and support the opportunities that exist
- Lead cross functional teams to maintain a long-term commitment by evaluating probable financial and operational impact regarding process improvement opportunities
- Manage digitalization, capital and process improvement projects to ensure desired results are met within the budgeted time and cost
- Increase efficiency while minimizing cost and maximizing resource utilization through lean and continuous improvement methodologies
- Ensure strategic needs of Global Operations, and Supply Chain are met
- Apply project management, Lean, and Six Sigma principles/disciplines
- Formulate and document comprehensive project plans from inception to delivery
- Analyze current approaches to identify opportunities to improve speed and effectiveness of project execution, materials, sourcing, workflows, and costs. Propose/formulate improvement plans for the aforementioned
- Design, improve, and document processes and workflows
- Deliver presentations and effectively articulate pros and cons, facts and figures, and broad business topics to management, employees, peers, vendors and clients
- Find and solve problems, propose solutions, and prioritize
- Participate in the development of the businesses plans and programs as a strategic partner
- Ensure that any Material Requirements Planning system (MRP) or digitalization tools in place is effective or are introduced and that data is accurate and up to date and resolve any issues as required
- Ensure strategic and operational information, reports and metrics are available to share with others in the business as and when required
- Report on achievement of targets and identify any corrective action
People Management
- Manage, coach and develop a high performing team that meets agreed objectives, and which helps deliver best practice results, added value and continuous improvements
- Set project objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports
Relationship Management
- Take lead on internal and external relationships to ensure consistent, timely and effective communication regarding demand planning and inventory topics
- Support new business initiatives, projects, and contribute to review meetings and change process
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or comparable education. MBA is preferred.
Experience
- 10 - 15 years of experience in Operations and/or supply chain related positions in a regulated environment
- Demonstrated experience in Project management, Operational improvements, significant cost savings for a global company
- Experience working with counterparts in other countries is preferred
- Familiarity with medical devices and regulations
Skills
- Proven management skills with the ability to optimize team performance and development
- Skilled communicator with the ability to form and maintain good relationships internally and externally
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills
- Results orientated and organized with the ability to plan, analyze and deliver against deadlines
- Project management skills (both written and oral)
- Excellent attention to detail skills
- Process implementation, budgeting and analytical skills that demonstrate the ability to recognize when system or staff adjustments are needed. Familiarity with medical devices and regulations
- Proficient at process mapping, flowcharting, database systems, Excel spreadsheet, and Microsoft Office
Travel Requirements
- Up to 20%
Working Conditions
- Position based in an office environment with occasional travel
- Able to work within a fluid and dynamic international environment
