HOYA Surgical Optics announces new publication for Vivinex™ Gemetric™

The prospective study, "Visual Outcomes After Bilateral Implantation of a Trifocal Intraocular Lens Pairing Two Complementary Optic Light Distributions", was published in the October 2025 issue of the Journal of Refractive Surgery. This article details the results of an independent research study based on real-world experience from Spain, led by Dr. Jorge Alio del Barrio.

The study evaluated the pairing strategy with Vivinex™ Gemetric™ and Vivinex™ Gemetric™ Plus in 27 patients with follow up at 1 day and 1, 3, and 6 months. Key findings at 6 months include1:

  • Excellent monocular visual acuity across all distances (100% of eyes had a spherical equivalent within +/- 0.5D at 6 months postop)

  • Excellent binocular visual acuity across all distances (100% of eyes had corrected distance visual acuity of 0.0 logMAR at 6 months postop)

  • Broad defocus range of visual acuity of 0.20 logMAR or better between +0.50 to -3.50 D

  • 96% of patients reported no or only minor difficulty with near tasks (NAVQ-10)

  • Patients reported low visual disturbance scores for frequency, severity and bothersome levels (QoV Questionnaire)
