About the role

Works closely with and have impact on: Quality, Production and Manufacturing Engineering departments

Reports to: Factory Director, Hoya Medical (Suzhou) Co. Ltd. (HMSZ)

 

Role Overview

For FY2024 and 2025 (during factory establishment phase), collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering (ME) and Quality (QA) departments to plan and execute production ME projects to support factory validation after construction.

 

Later during mass manufacturing phase, ensure that manufacturing equipment and tools function properly, and to increase organisation's efficiencies. Duties include building production schedules, making sure production processes stay within budgets and deadlines, and review productivity of the organization's manufacturing equipment.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

- Plan and execute factory establishment projects related to quality, yield, process efficiency and capacity improvement related to Intraocular Lens (IOL) manufacturing

- Support ME in new product or process development and transfer activities

- Hire and train operators and supervisors in support of validations and commercial manufacturing

- Develop daily production schedules in line with requirements from the Supply Chain department

- Ensure that products are manufactured with targeted productivity and COGs

- Develop manpower, CAPEX and OPEX budgets for quarterly and annual budgeting

 

 

Requirements

Experience

  • At least 5 years of working experience in a Class III Medical Device industry in a production management role.
  • Experience with methods and processes used to ensure that materials, components, or products meet expected standards or compliance requirements of Class III medical devices preferred
  • Experience in or knowledge of working with manufacturing processes, production, and administration in a medical device environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with the use of MES/ERP system as tools to implement material requirements and planning systems, manage manufacturing processes, including production scheduling and inventory tracking
  • Knowledge or experience working with mechanical systems, tools, and machines
  • Experience related to managing operations and employees in a manufacturing facility required

 

Skills/Accreditations 

- Effective communication in English and Mandarin essential. Japanese a plus

- Continuous improvements to improve products, systems, and services, especially in the areas of improving work efficiency and minimizing waste

- Able to communicate well, has the people skills

- Good Analytical skills

 

Academic Qualifications 

  • Degree in Engineering or relevant qualifications with relevant experience, preferably in the medical device industry

 

Travel requirements 

- 10-15% to Thailand, Singapore and/or Japan
