Madhu Ayyagari

Senior Vice President, Global R&D

Madhu Ayyagari has been in the field of ophthalmic medical device R&D for nearly 25 years. Most recently, Madhu was the Vice President, Global R&D at Bausch & Lomb Surgical Business Unit. He led R&D teams at various locations focused on the design and development of intraocular lenses, insertion devices, ophthalmic solutions, consumables, and cataract & retina equipment, and launched several products in global markets. Madhu was also involved in contact lens R&D earlier in his career at Bausch & Lomb. 

He received his doctorate in Chemical Engineering from Tulane University (New Orleans, LA). He also holds Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Rochester Simon School of Business (Rochester, NY), Master’s in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science (Bangalore, India) and Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering from Osmania University (Hyderabad, India). Madhu served as the National Research Council (NRC) Fellow at the US Army RD&E Center (Natick, MA) while conducting research at the University of Massachusetts (Lowell, MA) and teaching Chemical Engineering at the Tufts University (Medford, MA). He is an invited speaker at several international forums on innovation, product development and project management.
