HOYA Surgical Optics announces new publication for Vivinex™ Toric

The peer-reviewed journal article, "Comparing Rotational Stability Over Time Between Four Monofocal Toric Intraocular Lenses", was published in the April 2025 issue of the Journal of Clinical Ophthalmology. This article details the results of the MORE Clinical Trial, which rigorously evaluated the rotational stability of the Vivinex™ Toric IOL in comparison to the industry benchmark, AcrySof® IQ Toric, and two other toric IOLs.

The study evaluated the rotational stability of four monofocal toric IOLs from surgery day until 4–6 months after IOL implantation, utilizing high-resolution images at 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, and 4–6 months post-surgery. Key Findings include1:

  • The results from the analysis of a large sample of 299 eyes showed that the Vivinex™ Toric IOL had the lowest absolute rotation, with a mean value of less than 1.5 degrees, at all intervals, and a maximum standard deviation of 1.4 degrees
  • The rotational stability of the Vivinex™ Toric IOL is not related to axial length and IOL spherical power
  • Only Vivinex™ and AcrySofÒ IQ Toric IOLs did not have any rotations greater than 10 degrees, with over 97% of the results showing rotations of less than 5 degrees; compared to only 90% and 90.7% for the TECNIS™ Toric and AT TORBIÒ IOLs, respectively
